Graphics, NewGRFs and AIs

Wira Bandar PC is a fork of OpenTTD: OpenTTD's code with changes, free software under the GNU GPL v2. About and credits

Wira Bandar PC uses the same add-ons as OpenTTD: base graphics sets, NewGRFs, AIs, game scripts and scenarios. It finds what you installed for OpenTTD, and Online Content downloads more from OpenTTD’s content service, as in OpenTTD.

The zip has no graphics set of its own. Wira Bandar PC uses:

  • a set you already have for OpenTTD (OpenGFX, or the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe graphics if you installed them for OpenTTD), found in OpenTTD’s folders;
  • or OpenGFX, downloaded the first time if no set is found (see Download and install).

To switch sets: main menu → Game Options → Graphics tab → Base graphics set.

Its own new graphics (traffic lights, city services, the Malaysian and Singaporean buildings, the new buses, bus lanes and so on) come with the game and work with any base set.

If the automatic download fails:

  1. In the main menu, click Online Content, search for OpenGFX, tick it and click Download.
  2. Or download OpenGFX from OpenTTD’s download page and put the .tar file (unzipped from the download) in Documents\Wira Bandar\baseset.
  3. Restart the game and choose the set under Game Options → Graphics.

NewGRFs work as in OpenTTD: choose them in NewGRF Settings (the button in the World Generation window for a new game, or Options and settings → NewGRF settings).

Wira Bandar PC finds NewGRFs in:

  • Documents\Wira Bandar\newgrf and its content_download folder,
  • Documents\OpenTTD\newgrf and Documents\OpenTTD\content_download,
  • C:\Program Files\OpenTTD\newgrf (OpenTTD’s program folder).

So you don’t need to copy your OpenTTD NewGRFs. To add a NewGRF just for Wira Bandar PC, put it in Documents\Wira Bandar\newgrf.

When a save uses NewGRFs the game can’t find, the Game Details in the Load Game window say NewGRF: Missing files in red, and NewGRF Settings there shows which ones. Then:

  • if you have them for OpenTTD somewhere else, copy the files into Documents\Wira Bandar\newgrf;
  • or click Find missing content online in the Load Game window to download them.

AIs and game scripts work as in OpenTTD, from the same folders (ai and game in Wira Bandar’s and OpenTTD’s folders and their content_download). They play the transport game as they always did; they don’t know about lines, contracts or councils unless they were written for Wira Bandar PC. Game scripts and AIs written for it can use some of the new town features, such as zones, city services, ordinances and state governments.

Online Content in the main menu is OpenTTD’s content service (also called BaNaNaS). It works as in OpenTTD; what you download goes to Documents\Wira Bandar\content_download.
